Samsung Electronics released the third batch of Z Trifold units on Samsung.com starting at 10 a.m. on the 6th. The company did not disclose the size of the third batch, but it is said to be very limited. Offline, sales were conducted at 20 major stores nationwide, including Samsung Gangnam.
The Galaxy Z Trifold was released on the 12th of last month, and all prepared stock sold out as soon as sales began. On the release day, all units prepared sold out within 5 minutes of sales starting. The official list price is 3,590,400 won. A second batch was released on the 17th of last month, but stock ran out 2 minutes after purchase requests began. As a result, unopened units appeared on secondhand trading sites at prices 1.5 to 3 times higher.
For the third batch, priority purchase opportunities were given to customers who visited stores during the second sales round on the 17th of last month but could not buy, and remaining stock afterward was switched to general sales.
Samsung Electronics sold the product only as an unlocked, self-purchase model without carrier tie-ins. The buzz from being the company's first twice-folding form factor product, combined with the scarcity of limited sales volume, triggered a sellout frenzy. Although the Z Trifold carries high production and repair expenses, the company set the price in the mid-3 million won range, drawing assessments that the profit margin is low.
