Artificial intelligence (AI) creative tech corporations DavenAI said on the 6th it will officially launch an "AI character authorship proof" service that permanently records the creative history of AI-made characters on the Blockchain.
With the spread of Generative AI, disputes over who is the real original creator are surging, and the company said the measure aims to provide a practical "digital shield" for AI creators who are in a legal blind spot and to technically prevent unauthorized theft.
Under current domestic law, it is difficult to recognize copyright for results generated solely by AI. However, overseas, including in the United States, the Copyright Act is shifting so that results produced through editing and retouching that reflect the creator's intent, as well as prompting and selection/modification processes to obtain desired results, can be recognized as "human creative involvement."
DavenAI's authorship proof technology records the original data of generated characters and content and their time of creation on the Blockchain network. This proves, in a state that cannot be forged or altered, that "the content existed at a specific point in time" and "a specific person created it." This provides a powerful original-author verification function.
DavenAI also provides a feature that allows users to continue producing works within the DavenAI platform by applying various Generative AI models, including Google and OpenAI, to characters registered for authorship proof. Through this, all generated outputs are recorded as results associated with the authorship proof registration data.
Chief Executive Jeong U-gyun of DavenAI said, "In the past, artists had to go through complex procedures to protect their works; in the AI era, technology should remove that barrier," and added, "The core of this service is to provide grounds for ordinary creators without specialized knowledge to assert their rights with a single click."
Starting with this authorship proof feature, DavenAI plans to add various authorship protection technologies such as content, scenario, and script registration and theft monitoring. It will also expand a "fair creator ecosystem" in which creators can generate practical revenue, including producing merchandise using registered character intellectual property (IP) and license transaction.
