LG Uplus released the Uplus Kids Phone Muna Edition 2, using its own character Muna. The colors are blue and gray. The factory price is 369,500 won including VAT.
On the 2nd, LG Uplus released the Uplus Kids Phone Muna Edition 2 (hereafter Muna Phone 2), its ninth smartphone dedicated to kids for preschoolers and elementary school students. It is based on Samsung Electronics' Galaxy A17 LTE model, and LG Uplus' popular character "Muna" is applied to the wallpaper and theme. Muna Phone 2 is offered as a package that includes kids bone-conduction air earphones, a Muna pouch, a phone case, a neck strap, Muna stickers, and a screen protector film.
The company said the biggest feature of this kids phone is that it is equipped with an AI harmful content blocking function that detects harmful images and texts and sends alerts. If a child shoots, captures, or downloads a harmful image, the AI immediately sends a warning alert guiding the child to delete the image. It also alerts the guardian when a text containing harmful keywords such as profanity is received, helping them respond quickly. LG Uplus expects this feature will not only protect children but also help them develop proper smartphone usage habits.
It also provides the core protection features offered by existing kids phones. Through the Kiwi Play+ app, LG Uplus offers child location lookup and app usage control, which are considered the most important elements when using a kids phone. Guardians can use these to check a child's real-time location and app usage status.
Starting on the 9th, LG Uplus will offer Kyobo Lifeplanet's Kids Care Insurance free to customers ages 0 to 15 who activate Muna Phone 2. The insurance provides 30,000 won per visit for cast treatment and accident-related fractures for one year from enrollment.
In addition, among customers who purchase Muna Phone 2, the first 10,000 will receive the Yudok Pick (Pick) AI education pack free for three months. Yudok Pick (Pick) AI is LG Uplus' AI subscription service, and the education pack consists of "Science Donga AiR" and "Math King" for science and math learning, and "Plang" and "Runny" for English and Korean learning, supporting AI self-directed learning across all subjects. Customers can subscribe to the Yudok service to use the education pack.
In addition, among customers under age 18 who activate Muna Phone 2, customers of Hana Bank's allowance management app "iBuja" will receive a total allowance benefit of 7,000 won—2,000 won at initial signup and 5,000 won upon the first payment with the Muna Card. Also, all customers who newly sign up for the kids Metaverse platform "Kidstopia" after activating Muna Phone 2 will receive Muna items worth 30,000 won.
Customers who activate Muna Phone 2 at the Uplus Online Official Store starting on the 2nd and enter the event can choose one of the following: a DLT Tech Korea label printer, an Extrabolt 10,000mAh portable battery, or ANAM wireless earphones.
Lee Hyun-seung, head of the Device Seg at LG Uplus, said, "Because Muna Phone 2 is likely to be a child's first smartphone, we planned it with safety and usage management as the top priorities as well as design," and added, "By providing AI-based protection features and practical, everyday benefits, we will establish it as a kids phone that parents can choose with confidence."
