The mobile game "Goddess Order," serviced by Kakao Games, will end service on Jan. 31 because the developer went bankrupt and cannot continue operations. The decision comes a little over four months after launch and about three months after updates were halted last year.
According to the game industry on the 5th, the Goddess Order operations team announced the service termination schedule in a notice on Dec. 23 last year. Access to the game will be blocked at 3 p.m. on Jan. 31, and user accounts and in-game data will all be deleted. The official community and social networking service (SNS) channels will also cease operations that day.
The operations team cited the developer's deteriorating management as the reason for ending the service. As the developer PixelTribe entered bankruptcy proceedings, key personnel left, making even basic operations such as system maintenance and bug response impossible, it said.
Earlier, Kakao Games fully suspended updates for Goddess Order on Nov. 3 last year. At the time, it said it had been notified by the developer that further development was difficult due to financial conditions and management issues.
Afterward, PixelTribe filed for bankruptcy with the court, and the Suwon Bankruptcy Court declared bankruptcy on the 4th of last month. Goddess Order is a side-scrolling mobile role-playing game (RPG) officially released on Sept. 24 last year, developed by PixelTribe and published by Kakao Games.
Separately from the developer's bankruptcy, follow-up measures for users are underway. Kakao Games is accepting refund-related requests through one-on-one inquiries with the customer center.
