From Dec. 31 last year to on the 3rd, customers leaving KT over the four days surpassed a cumulative 50,000, according to an analysis.
According to the telecommunications industry on the 4th, from Dec. 31 last year, when KT began waiving termination fees, to on the 3rd, 52,661 people left KT. Of all KT leavers, 71% moved to SKT among the three major carriers. Including budget phones, 65% of those leaving KT chose SKT.
On the 3rd, the first weekend since the termination-fee waiver began, there were 21,027 departures from KT. This was the first time since the waiver began that the daily figure exceeded 20,000. Of these, 13,616 moved to SKT, 5,467 to LG Uplus, and 1,944 to budget phones.
According to Chairperson Choi Min-hee of the Science. ICT. Broadcasting. and Communications Committee, as of Dec. 28 last year, KT's cumulative number of USIM swaps was 189,100, and the number of reservations received was 124,800. KT's USIM inventory stood at 3,488,000 as of the same date.
