"2026 will be a turning point to enter a new growth trajectory focused on profitability through differentiated technology."
Jeong Chul-dong of LG Display said this in a New Year's address for 2026 sent to employees at home and abroad on the 2nd. With a message to make this year a "turning point for profitability-focused growth," he laid out three key tasks to secure future competitiveness.
Jeong said, "If we have strengthened our fundamentals so far and regained customer trust, from now on we must innovate into a technology-centered company so that customers have no choice but to choose us," adding, "We must secure a stable profitability structure and a foundation for future growth in all business areas and get on the path to full normalization of management."
To enter a new growth trajectory based on stable profitability, Jeong put forward as this year's key tasks: ▲ securing top-tier technology ▲ advancing technology-based cost innovation ▲ accelerating AX execution across all areas. Jeong said, "Customers demand products that have both differentiated technology and cost competitiveness," and added, "Let's concentrate resources and capabilities on technology for future customers and move forward as a technology-centered company with mid- to long-term technology leadership." On structural cost innovation, Jeong stressed "strengthening technological capabilities," saying, "Cost innovation is the most certain way to protect profitability against external volatility."
He also set a goal of securing future competitiveness through an artificial intelligence transition (AX). Jeong said, "Let's spread an AX culture and advance AI by function with the goal of building an autonomous 'Agentic AI' system that sets and executes its own goals," adding, "From research and development to production and quality, we must maximize productivity through AX across all areas."
Jeong concluded the New Year's address by saying, "We must stand at the starting line with confidence and fresh thinking," and "Based on mutual trust, let's become a solid One Team and make 2026 a year in which we surely reap the results we want."
