Kim Young-shub, KT's president and CEO, said in his New Year's address on the 2nd that "if we continue our efforts to innovate security, strengthen AX (AI transformation) capabilities, and pursue bold, innovative challenges based on these efforts, we can continue to grow as the best AX innovation partner recognized by customers and the market in CT (communication technology) and IT."
Kim said, "There was the government's final announcement of the investigation results that compiled the extensive investigation, root-cause analysis, and recurrence prevention measures related to the information security incident that began on Sep., and our company announced the 'customer reward package and KT information security innovation measures,'" adding, "As seen in this breach incident, now not only the traditional IT domain or specific departments but all of our day-to-day work—network, marketing, CS—are targets of intrusion attacks and subjects of information security that we must protect."
Kim said, "Without this shift in awareness, we cannot defend against intrusion and information security risks that are becoming routine and more sophisticated," and added, "I extend my special gratitude to the many employees who directly and indirectly took part in the long investigation and countermeasure efforts, and I ask all employees to join forces in the process of restoring customer trust going forward."
Kim said, "All of us have been tirelessly pushing to leap forward as an AICT (AI+ICT) company by strengthening our business and technology capabilities and innovating our management infrastructure, and in that process we confirmed the strong expectations and support from customers and the market for KT's change and innovation," adding, "I hope that in 2026 we will continue to build the capabilities of individuals and organizations and keep taking on challenges that continuously innovate our core business performance."
