The priority is to further strengthen the collaboration with Samsung Electronics that began last year. The new production line to be established in Korea this year is expected to serve as a kind of "standard model" for the factory of the future.
David Doni, the new CEO of FläktGroup, stated accordingly in an interview with the Samsung Electronics Newsroom on the 2nd. Germany-based FläktGroup is Europe's largest HVAC equipment company. Samsung Electronics completed the acquisition of FläktGroup in Nov. last year to enter the fast-growing global HVAC market.
Doni is considered a veteran who has built leadership in the global heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) industry for more than 20 years. In this interview, Doni unveiled FläktGroup's future vision, business direction and key strategies for this year.
Founded in 1909, FläktGroup operates in areas including ventilation systems for commercial and industrial buildings, as well as cleanrooms, marine and fire safety. It also provides specialized technology in data center cooling and is posting results. Regarding FläktGroup's strengths, Doni said, "We have provided data center cooling solutions for more than 60 years. We have outstanding solutions from precision cooling to energy efficiency," adding, "Members with expertise in each field are delivering high-quality solutions at 14 manufacturing facilities worldwide, and after-sales service (AS) engineers who have built field-centric capabilities are adding trust for customers."
He added, "We provide integrated solutions related to new building construction and core facilities across key global industries," and "Recently in Sweden, we supplied integrated HVAC solutions for a customer building a zero-carbon steel production plant, and in the marine business, we carried out defense projects for several countries, including India and the United States."
FläktGroup also achieved results this year in the United States by cross-supplying solutions with Samsung Electronics. For a customer in the aerospace sector, the company jointly supplied FläktGroup's "Air Solution" and Samsung's "modular chiller," confirming potential synergy between the two companies.
On synergy with Samsung Electronics, Doni said, "We will be able to create smarter and more connected solutions." He noted that "by linking FläktGroup's HVAC systems with Samsung's SmartThings Pro and building integration solution (b.IoT), we can expand into more advanced energy management and smart building solutions." Citing research and development (R&D) collaboration as another promising area, he added, "By integrating the supply chain, we can expand the roadmap for new products and accelerate time to market, creating new growth opportunities."
Doni said, "The priority is to further strengthen collaboration with Samsung starting in 2025," adding, "We will focus on chilled water distribution unit (CDU) technology and expand FläktGroup's smart control platform, 'FläktEdge.'" He added, "We will also increase R&D investment to speed development and delivery while strengthening support for partner projects."
FläktGroup will establish a new production line in Korea this year. Doni said, "It will serve as a kind of 'standard model' for the factory of the future," adding, "Using this plant as a foothold, we will expand FläktGroup's presence across Asia." He added, "We are also investing in new production facilities and field services in India and the United States, where we see significant growth opportunities related to data centers and indoor building environments."
The global HVAC market is showing solid growth. Doni said, "Countries around the world are strengthening energy efficiency regulations and accelerating urbanization, and the adoption of smart technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) is expanding," adding, "As interest in indoor air quality (Indoor Air Quality) rises and demand for heat pumps grows, we expect meaningful market expansion through 2035." He added, "With rising demand for high-efficiency HVAC in North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific, the industry outlook for liquid cooling is also positive."
Doni expressed confidence in delivering results in this market. "Together with Samsung Electronics, we will continue to grow beyond 2026," he said. "Becoming the global leader in HVAC is our clear vision." He added, "We will continue to develop solutions and smart technologies that improve the energy efficiency of various buildings," and "Based on a broad product portfolio honed for more than 100 years, we are taking energy and smart technology to the next level."
Lastly, Doni emphasized, "We plan to expand the application of environmental product declarations (EPD) to as much as 95% of FläktGroup's products within the year," adding, "We will pursue the full-scale launch of 'FläktEdge' for our core business areas and the embedding of circular economy principles across product design and packaging."
