Naver Cloud said on the 2nd that it has released Cloud DB for Cache, a fully managed cloud databases service based on open source.
The service is an in-memory cache databases unveiled for the first time by domestic corporations based on the open-source Valkey, offering a managed environment that can be used immediately without complex configuration.
In particular, as the open-source Redis shifted to a commercial license, increasing expense and technological uncertainty, Cloud DB for Cache presented a practical alternative to replace Redis. It offers high compatibility with existing Redis and allows users to access high-performance, highly available in-memory services at a reasonable price, minimizing replacement costs.
In addition, including this service, Naver Cloud is the only company in Korea with Cloud databases Security Assurance Program (CSAP) certification, making it highly useful in public cloud environments. In particular, Naver Cloud, which holds the CSAP "low" grade, is expected to gain strong trust from public institutions that require high security requirements and a stable service operations framework.
Jeong Seung-yong, Naver Cloud Cloud DB platform leader, said, "In a fast-changing open-source environment, we plan to continue expanding cloud services that domestic corporations and public institutions can choose with confidence," adding, "We will offer alternatives that can reduce expense and regulatory uncertainty and expand our influence in the domestic cloud market."
Since 2017, Naver Cloud has strengthened the competitiveness of its open-source-based databases products, and in 2024 it also obtained CSAP SaaS certification for databases products, the first in Korea.
