SK Telecom unveiled the 500B-scale frontier AI model A.X K1 and said it aims to leap into the global top three in AI. At the first briefing for the independent AI foundation model project held at COEX in Seoul on the 30th, SK Telecom highlighted A.X K1's strengths in a public presentation.
Jeong Seok-geun, head of AI CIC at SK Telecom, said at the briefing that for Korea to enter the global top three in AI, a 500B-scale model is essential, adding it can handle high-difficulty tasks and serve as social overhead capital (SOC). SK Telecom also put forward an AI value chain spanning infrastructure, models, and services as a differentiating strategy.
In the experience zone, visitors can try A.X K1 in a chatbot format and test a range of functions through quick mode and reasoning mode. SK Telecom said, "A.X K1 will contribute to a major industrial transformation in Korea based on its ability to expand AI across both B2C and B2B."
