Dassault Systèmes said on the 29th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry Busan Human Resources Development Institute (hereinafter Busan Human Resources Development Institute) to build an innovation talent ecosystem to lead the next-generation shipbuilding industry.
The MOU focuses not only on building a talent development ecosystem for the next-generation shipbuilding industry but also on supporting the strengthening of digital capabilities across the industry. In particular, the plan is to promote a phased talent training program for developers and working-level users in CAD, PLM (product lifecycle management), and DM (digital manufacturing). Through this collaboration, a cooperative framework will be established that combines the human resources development capabilities of the Busan Human Resources Development Institute with Dassault Systèmes' industry experience and best practices in the global shipbuilding digital sector.
Dassault Systèmes will define the scope of digital solutions for the shipbuilding and marine industries and take charge of designing train-the-trainer courses and supporting technology and software operations. It also plans to share the latest global technology trends and success stories to prepare a more complete training program. The Busan Human Resources Development Institute will oversee the development and operation of the curriculum and discover training courses linked to the government's vocational competency development system. In addition, it will promote a more systematic talent training program through cooperation on infrastructure and equipment for program operations and the operation of quality management and performance management systems.
Ryu Hyeong-ju, head of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry Busan Human Resources Development Institute, said, "We are very pleased to embark on nurturing talent to lead the digital transformation of the domestic shipbuilding industry through collaboration with Dassault Systèmes," and added, "Through this agreement, we will systematically foster professionals with practical capabilities required in the field and contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of the regional industry."
Jeong Un-seong, CEO of Dassault Systèmes Korea, said, "This agreement is an important collaboration to enhance Korea's future competitiveness by supporting digital transformation in the highly competitive shipbuilding industry," and added, "Based on virtual twin–based solutions and global best practices, we will actively participate in nurturing professionals to lead the next-generation shipbuilding industry and help Busan establish itself as a key hub for shipbuilding."
