Jung Jai-hun, president and CEO of SK Telecom, visited network sites to conduct inspections as the year-end communications traffic surges.
SK Telecom said on the 28th that Jung visited the network situation room at the Bundang headquarters in Seongnam, a new base station construction site in Goyang, and an optical cable splicing work site in Dongdaemun District, Seoul, from the 24th to the 26th.
Jung reviewed the emergency response system for the year-end and New Year traffic increase, security, and compliance with safety, health and environment (SHE) rules, and listened to on-site workers' difficulties.
An SK Telecom official said, "This site visit focused on 'basics and principles,'" and added, "Jung went up to the work site where a base station installation is underway to identify risk factors and also checked the safety manual and equipment."
At the Bundang headquarters situation room, Jung received a report on the emergency response system for the year-end and New Year traffic surge and checked communications quality and contingency measures.
Jung emphasized, "In the era of artificial intelligence (AI), change is only possible when solid fundamentals and a stable communications network are in place," and said, "Upholding principles in quality, security, and safety is the starting point for customer trust."
