The Broadcast Media Communications Review Committee said on the 28th that President Lee Jae-myung had named three people—Ko Gwang-heon, former CEO of The Seoul Shinmun; attorney Kim Jun-hyeon (Wooriro Law Firm); and Cho Seung-ho, former head of news innovation at YTN—as Commissioners of the first Broadcast Media Communications Review Committee.
Former CEO Ko Gwang-heon began his career as a teacher at Seonil Girls' High School and joined the launch of The Hankyoreh in 1988. He later served as the 14th CEO of The Hankyoreh and as CEO of The Seoul Shinmun.
Attorney Kim Jun-hyeon, a former reporter at The Korea Economic Daily, passed the 47th bar exam and, after working at Jiseok Law Firm, is now practicing at Wooriro Law Firm. He has served as chair of the media committee at MIBYUN-Lawyers for a Democratic Society and as counsel at the Korea Press Arbitration Center's Korean Media Harm Counseling Office.
Under the Act on the Establishment and Operation of the Korea Media and Communications Commission, three members recommended by the National Assembly speaker in consultation with the floor leaders of negotiation blocs, and three members recommended by the competent standing committee of the National Assembly, will be appointed to the Broadcast Media Communications Review Committee.
The terms of the three Commissioners appointed this time run for three years, from Dec. 29, 2025, to Dec. 28, 2028.
