Huawei will strengthen its push into the Korean market by releasing its latest AI chip, "Ascend 950," in Korea next year.
Wang Balian, head of Huawei Korea, said at a press briefing for "Huawei Day 2025" held at The Plaza Hotel in Jung District, Seoul, on the 26th, "We plan to officially launch AI computing cards and data center solutions," adding, "We aim to offer Korean corporations a second option in addition to Nvidia."
Huawei plans to sell the "Ascend 950" by cluster unit. Wang said, "This is not simply about providing AI cards and servers, but a strategy to accelerate industrial applications." To that end, the company plans to provide an "end-to-end (E2E) solution" that includes infrastructure hardware and software such as networks and storage.
In addition, Huawei plans to build an ecosystem by supplying the open-source operating system "Harmony" to domestic corporations next year. Wang said, "The ownership of Harmony does not belong to Huawei; an open-source institution is responsible for operations and upgrades." He added that there are no plans to launch smartphones.
