LG Electronics is unveiling a next-generation gaming monitor with an artificial intelligence (AI) solution built into the device itself.
LG Electronics said on the 26th it will unveil the "LG UltraGear evo" (LG UltraGear evo) at CES 2026, the world's largest IT and home appliance trade show, in Las Vegas in January. The lineup consists of three models: 27-inch (27GM950B), 39-inch (39GC950B), and 52-inch (52G930B). LG Electronics launched the gaming device brand "LG UltraGear" in 2018, and this is the first time it is introducing the premium "evo" lineup under it.
A key feature is image quality enhancement powered by On-device AI (technology that performs AI functions on the device itself without a server connection). Features such as "5K AI upscaling" let users view all video in 5K (5120x2880 pixels) clarity. The company said, "Even without upgrading the PC's graphics processing unit (GPU), the monitor's own AI technology delivers 5K clarity so users can enjoy various content in high definition."
An "AI scene optimization" feature that lets AI detect a video's genre on its own and apply optimal settings is also built in. It also supports an "AI sound" feature that adjusts to the optimal audio environment. Even without separate user input, AI distinguishes sound effects, music, and voices and fine-tunes them to deliver audio suited to the video.
The 27-inch and 39-inch UltraGear evo monitors also feature "dual mode." Users can switch between a high-resolution mode and a high-refresh-rate mode depending on the use case. The 27-inch supports a high-resolution mode of 5K at 165Hz and a high-refresh-rate mode of QHD at 330Hz, while the 39-inch supports a high-resolution mode of WUHD at 165Hz and a high-refresh-rate mode of WFHD at 330Hz.
The 27-inch UltraGear evo monitor is equipped with a 5K mini LED panel. The 39-inch UltraGear evo monitor uses a curved 5K2K (5120x2160) OLED display with a curvature of 1500R (the curvature of a circle with a 1,500 mm radius).
The 52-inch UltraGear evo monitor uses a curved 5K2K (5120x2160) display with a curvature of 1000R. Combining a 21:9 aspect ratio suitable for the latest games with a high refresh rate of up to 240Hz, it provides an optimized gaming environment that boosts immersion even on a large display.
Vice President Lee Chung-hwan, head of the display business unit at LG Electronics, said, "The new premium gaming lineup 'LG UltraGear evo' enables users to enjoy performance, clarity, and immersion that gamers want through innovations such as 5K AI upscaling," adding, "It will deliver a different level of gaming experience to customers worldwide."
