LG Electronics said on the 25th that it will unveil a new home robot, LG CLOiD, at CES 2026, the world's largest home appliance and IT exhibition, to be held in Las Vegas on the 6th local time. LG Electronics released a teaser video on its global social media (SNS) account the same day.
The video shows CLOiD using two arms and five fingers to hold or pick up household items and bumping fists with a person. It also carries the message that, to reduce the time and effort customers spend on housework so they can focus on more valuable tasks, a new form factor that directly performs tasks is needed beyond appliances that merely reduce housework.
CLOiD is a name created by adding the D from dynamic to LG Electronics' robot brand CLOi. It is designed to perform delicate movements in living spaces tailored to human living environments, and, based on artificial intelligence (AI), it recognizes and learns from its surroundings to act as an assistant that controls AI appliances according to the resident's schedule and lifestyle. It also previewed guidance and care functions tailored to the resident's situation.
LG Electronics sees robots as a "clear future" and plans to accelerate technological advancement. In this reorganization, it newly established the HS Robotics Research Lab under the HS Business Division to concentrate home robot capabilities scattered across the company. It is conducting joint research with ROBOTIS and the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), and investing in global robot corporations such as Figure AI in the United States and AGIbot in China to secure technologies that enhance safety and practicality.
LG Electronics plans to accelerate commercialization by pursuing partnerships alongside in-house research. Baek Seung-tae, head of the HS Business Division (executive vice president), said, "At CES 2026, we will showcase our efforts for a zero-labor home vision, including the home robot CLOiD."
