Fire authorities responded after a 119 report said smoke was coming from a research building at the Samsung Electronics Hwaseong campus in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi.
The fire report was filed after charring was found on a piece of equipment called a "pump," an auxiliary facility at the business sites. No casualties were reported.
Fire authorities reportedly deployed about 30 units, including pump trucks, and more than 80 firefighters to the scene to take safety measures. About 120 employees in the building evacuated at one point.
A Samsung Electronics official said, "Charring occurred in the equipment, producing smoke and residue, and the situation ended after it was extinguished immediately," adding, "There was no disruption to production and no casualties."
