Samsung Electronics has unveiled the mobile application processor (AP) Exynos 2600, which will be installed in the flagship smartphone Galaxy S26 series scheduled for release early next year.
On the 19th, Samsung Electronics introduced details of the Exynos 2600 on its website.
The Exynos 2600 is a semiconductor chip designed by the System LSI in the DS (Device Solutions) division, which is responsible for the semiconductor business, and manufactured by Samsung Foundry on a 2-nanometer (nm; 1 nm = one-billionth of a meter) Gate-All-Around (GAA) cutting-edge process.
An AP is a semiconductor that serves as the brain of a smartphone, and the Exynos 2600 is the industry's first AP to apply the 2 nm GAA process.
Samsung Electronics labeled the product status of the Exynos 2600 as "mass production (Mass production)" on its website.
This is interpreted to mean the production yield (the ratio of good products among finished products) has risen enough to enable mass production of the chip. The Exynos 2600 is known to be installed in the Galaxy S26 series.
Integrating a central processing unit (CPU), Neural Processing Unit (NPU), and graphics processing unit (GPU) into one, the Exynos 2600 provides enhanced artificial intelligence (AI) and gaming experiences.
In particular, with a deca-core (10 cores) based on the latest Arm architecture, CPU compute performance is up to 39% higher than the previous model (Exynos 2500), and powerful NPU-driven Generative AI performance has improved by 113%.
It also introduces HPB (heat path block) for the first time in a mobile SoC (system on chip), reducing thermal resistance by up to 16% to keep internal chip temperatures stable even under heavy loads.
It supports up to a 320MP (megapixel) ultra-high-resolution camera, and with newly introduced AI-based vision perception system (VPS) and the APV™ codec, it can capture smarter and clearer photos.
Samsung Electronics plans to hold its new product launch event Galaxy Unpacked 2026 in the United States at the end of Feb. and unveil the Galaxy S26 series.
