As part of a policy to make artificial intelligence (AI) the key engine driving the future of the national economy, 24 global big tech corporations, including Nvidia, Google, OpenAI, Palantir, and Amazon Web Services (AWS), will join the "Genesis Mission."
On the 18th, according to major foreign media including Reuters and Bloomberg, major AI big tech corporations signed a memorandum of understanding with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to use AI to support scientific research and strengthen America's energy and security capabilities. The Genesis Mission is a government-led project the Trump administration is pursuing to accelerate scientific discovery and energy technology innovation using AI. President Donald Trump officially launched the Genesis Mission last month through an executive order.
Participating corporations include Microsoft (MS), AWS, AMD, IBM, Intel, Oracle, Anthropic, Palantir, xAI, and Prometheus. Prometheus is a new AI startup project founded by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
The U.S. government plans to expand AI-based experiments by leveraging the computing resources of laboratories under the Department of Energy. They aim to collaborate across next-generation core technologies such as nuclear energy, Quantum Computing, and robotics to deliver results in various fields, including energy, manufacturing, and new drug development, by automating experiment design, accelerating simulations, and creating predictive models.
Michael Kratsios, director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, said, "The Genesis Mission will drive innovation in a wide range of fields, including energy, manufacturing, and new drug development," and noted, "Integrating cutting-edge AI into scientific research will greatly boost the productivity of American scientists and researchers."
