Global cybersecurity corporations Fortinet said on the 17th that it has teamed up with Nvidia to unveil infrastructure security solutions for artificial intelligence (AI) factories and private cloud environments.
The solution adopts an integrated architecture that runs Fortinet's virtual cloud firewall FortiGate VM directly on the Nvidia BlueField-3 data processing unit (DPU), designed to handle core security functions at the infrastructure level rather than on the host server. This embeds security functions into the data center infrastructure itself and provides a stable security environment without degrading the performance of critical workloads.
Fortinet cited as strengths of the solution that it can process security stably even in large-scale AI traffic environments and can be built relatively easily in private cloud environments.
John Whittle, Fortinet chief operating officer (COO), said, "AI data center environments demand far higher performance than before," and added, "By running FortiGate VM directly on the BlueField-3 DPU, customers can transfer firewalls, segmentation, and zero trust controls to the DPU to strengthen security isolation and reduce latency, while easily applying consistent security policies."
