Jung Jai-hun, president of SK Telecom, said at his first town hall meeting on the 16th since taking office, "From now on, I am the change executive officer," signaling companywide innovation.
Jung said, "If we cling to past ways and fall into an active rut, we cannot lead change," urging employees to take creative risks while noting that management will take responsibility for failures.
SK Telecom plans companywide innovation to accelerate the evolution of its MNO (mobile network operator) business and artificial intelligence (AI) business. Jung said the company will pursue qualitative growth on the foundation of a customer-centric "solid MNO," and will shift its key management metric from EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) to ROIC (return on invested capital) to improve its management structure. He also stressed that, in the AI business, the company will compete with global big tech through "selection and concentration," and will make AX (AI transformation) a survival task for all employees.
Jung set the goal of the organizational culture as "dynamic stability," adding that the company will create an environment where employees can lead change. Ultimately, he promised to "make the best decisions with humility and respect," and said SK Telecom will build a dream team that can keep challenging itself.
