Samsung Electronics said on the 16th that it will expand cooperation with major global energy corporations to help users cut electricity bills.
Through a partnership with Enel, Italy's largest power and energy corporation, Samsung Electronics will provide free electricity for laundry to buyers of Samsung washing machines starting on the 16th local time. Samsung Electronics will support up to 180 kWh of electricity over two years. That is the amount of power needed to use a Samsung Electronics grade A washing machine for about two years.
Earlier, Samsung Electronics worked with British Gas, a U.K. energy corporation, last month to launch the Samsung Weekend Saver fixed-rate plan exclusively for buyers of Samsung Electronics products.
The plan cuts 50% off household electricity bills from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Samsung Electronics said this can reduce users' financial burden while easing grid overload and improving power utilization.
Samsung Electronics is also offering a benefit through a partnership with Coolblue, a Netherlands energy corporation, that provides free electricity for using Samsung washers and dryers from noon to 3 p.m.
With Leaf, a U.S. energy corporation, Samsung is encouraging the use of AI (artificial intelligence) saving mode during peak demand through the Flex Connect program, which optimizes the power consumption of appliances consolidated to SmartThings.
Park Chan-woo, vice president of the Samsung Electronics B2B Solutions Team, said, "We are continually expanding energy partnerships to provide a variety of electricity rate benefits to users of Samsung Electronics appliances," and added, "We will keep advancing SmartThings and strengthen consolidation with smart appliances to boost both energy efficiency and user convenience."
Samsung Electronics plans to showcase industry-leading energy-efficient AI appliances at CES 2026, the world's largest home appliance and IT exhibition, to be held in Las Vegas in January next year.
