Nota AI, a corporations specializing in artificial intelligence (AI) model slimming and optimization technologies, said on the 16th that it signed a contract to supply smart intersection system technology for the intelligent transportation system (ITS) construction project in Nairobi, Kenya.
The contract was made as part of a traffic control center construction project jointly carried out by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) and LG CNS. Hanil STM will handle system design and management, and Nota AI will implement an AI model slimming and optimization-based smart intersection system tailored to the edge environment.
Nota AI's AI slimming and optimization technology reduces an AI model's computation and memory usage so it runs efficiently at the edge, making it suitable for environments that require low-power and low-latency.
The AI slimming and optimization-based smart intersection system being introduced reduces the size of the models needed for analysis and optimizes them for on-site intersection CCTV (closed-circuit TV) to analyze traffic conditions such as vehicle type classification, traffic volume, and waiting queues in real time without server intervention. Nota AI said that the slimming technology allows a single edge device to manage multiple CCTV channels simultaneously and process real-time data.
The smart intersection system and incident detection system completed with Nota AI's technology earned a "top-tier" score in the basic ITS performance evaluation, where real-time capability and accuracy are key indicators. In the recent Yeongcheon ITS reinforcement project, it also achieved an average performance of 99.5% across all items and was completed successfully.
Going forward, Nota AI plans to accelerate the monetization of intelligent transportation system technology revenue.
Previously in the Middle East and North America, it participated in projects including: ▲ a partnership with the United Arab Emirates transportation infrastructure corporations "ATS" ▲ a contract to supply ITS solutions to the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority ▲ discussions to promote an ITS construction project with the Abu Dhabi Department of Transport ▲ successful verification with Sony of pedestrian safety support and traffic volume analysis in the Lakewood area in the United States, and through participation in this Nairobi, Kenya project, it expanded the application of its technology to the African region.
Chief Executive Chae Myeong-su of Nota AI said, "We are glad that Nota AI's AI slimming and optimization technology will contribute to traffic innovation in Nairobi after Dubai," adding, "We will successfully complete this project and further expand the impact of AI slimming and optimization technology in the global market."
