Krafton said on the 15th that it released the personal artificial intelligence (AI) assistant "KIRA" through the open-source platform GitHub.
KIRA is short for "KRAFTON Intelligence Rookie Agent," a personal AI assistant that can run various programs with natural-language commands alone. KIRA features a "smart memory" function that remembers conversations, ongoing projects, key decisions, and more.
Users do not need to repeat the same context, and KIRA understands the work background to provide continuous support. It also includes proactive work-assistance functions, such as automatically extracting and handling tasks assigned in Outlook emails and reflecting changes in documents and workflows in real time.
Another key feature of "KIRA" is "proactive suggestions," which analyzes accumulated information to propose necessary tasks before the user asks. In addition, with a web-based voice input function, users can give work instructions through conversation alone, and conversations and memory are stored on the user's computer rather than an external server, providing high security.
Operating on the work messenger Slack, "KIRA" can be used after installing the desktop app and linking API (application programming interface) keys for multiple work tools, including Anthropic's Claude, and the expense occurs according to API usage.
This is the first time Krafton has opened up in-house accumulated technology for anyone to use. The development of KIRA was built on KRIS (KRafton Intelligence System, KRIS), an AI agent that Krafton runs internally as a core foundation. By integrating with major collaboration tools, KRIS has reduced meeting minutes preparation time from 1 hour to 3 minutes and significantly cut repetitive information search tasks, improving work efficiency. Krafton reorganized this technology so that general users can easily use it and released it as "KIRA."
Lee Kang-uk, head of AI at Krafton, said, "KIRA will spur new work innovations across industries and job functions based on its local-centric security architecture and proactive suggestion feature," and added, "As it is released as open source, we expect it to evolve together with the global AI community and contribute to revitalizing the open-source ecosystem."
