Samsung Electronics said on the 12th that it added the "Climate Companion Card" service to the "Samsung Wallet Transit Card" to improve public transit convenience for Galaxy smartphone users.
Through this, Samsung Wallet users can issue a Climate Companion Card on Galaxy smartphones and use public transit without limits. The Climate Companion Card is an integrated commuter pass that allows free use of public transit for a set period, offering significant savings on transit costs for residents with regular routines such as commuting to work or school.
The Seoul city government plans to use the Climate Companion Card to promote public transit use, cut carbon emissions, and enhance transportation welfare for residents. As a digital transit card, the Samsung Wallet Climate Companion Card lets users easily handle services such as viewing usage history, checking balances, and renewing passes within Samsung Wallet, delivering economic benefits without the hassle of carrying a physical card.
In addition, Samsung Electronics is expanding support for the Tmoney Co. transit card on smartphones activated via eSIM as well as the existing USIM method, giving users more choices of transit cards. The "Samsung Wallet Transit Card" service is also being added to Galaxy Watch, allowing the transit card to be used with just the watch, without a smartphone.
Samsung Wallet supports not only prepaid and postpaid payment methods, including Tmoney Co. and Ezele transit cards, but also public transit card services such as the Climate Companion Card and K-Pass. K-Pass is a program that credits and refunds part of the fare when you use public transit at least 15 times a month.
