Rain is expected across most of the country on Thursday the 11th. In some areas, a mix of rain and snow may fall, creating the possibility of black ice on roads, so commuters should take care for traffic safety on the way to work.
According to the Korea meteorological Administration on the 10th, rain that begins before dawn on the 11th in the central region, the Jeolla region, and Jeju Island will expand to most areas nationwide from the morning. In most areas the rain will stop during the day, but along the east coast and mountainous areas of Gangwon, the east coast and northeastern mountains of North Gyeongsang, and in Ulsan, it may continue through the daytime on Friday the 12th.
Expected precipitation is 5 to 10 mm in the Seoul metropolitan area, Gangwon, and North Chungcheong, and around 5 mm in Daejeon, Sejong, South Chungcheong, the Jeolla region, Busan, Ulsan, and South Gyeongsang. There is also a chance of snow in eastern Gyeonggi, Gangwon Province, and the northeastern mountains of North Gyeongsang, with more than 10 cm of accumulation expected in many places in the Gangwon mountains and along the east coast.
The Korea meteorological Administration explained that the rain and snow on the 11th could vary in precipitation type and snow accumulation even within the same city, county, or district depending on elevation, due to slight temperature differences between the lower atmosphere and the surface.
It especially urged caution when driving and walking, such as driving slowly during the morning commute, as in areas with low ground temperatures, rain or snow can freeze, creating icy roads or black ice.
