LG Electronics said on the 10th that it supplied a high-definition light-emitting diode (LED) solution dedicated to virtual production to Korea's largest virtual studio.
LG Electronics recently supplied a dedicated LED solution for virtual production (model LBCJ026) to the newly created virtual studio "Studio V" at Studio Cube, a public video production infrastructure operated in Daejeon by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA).
Studio Cube is a public studio established in 2017 to support the competitiveness and development of Korea's broadcast and video content industry. The drama "Squid Game," "Kingdom," and "Sweet Home" filmed some scenes there.
A virtual studio renders various backgrounds needed for video content production through large LED screens. The main screen installed this time measures 60 meters wide and 8 meters high. Combined with a height-adjustable ceiling screen and a mobile auxiliary screen, the total area is 782.5 square meters, equivalent to about 660 65-inch TVs connected together.
The dedicated LED solution supplied by LG Electronics features a high refresh rate of 7,680 Hz. The company said it can prevent flicker when filming the screen with a camera. It also satisfies 99% of DCI-P3, the color gamut of the Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI), reproducing the original video's colors as they are. LG Electronics is also operating its own virtual production built with "LG MAGNIT," an ultra-high-definition micro LED signage, at its North American headquarters in New Jersey.
