SBB TECH, a corporations specializing in ultra-precision robot drive modules, will supply bearings for wafer processing equipment to TSMC, the world's largest foundry (semiconductor contract manufacturing) company, through a partner.
SBB TECH said on the 8th that it signed a contract to supply semiconductor bearings worth 1,471,500,000 won with STS International, an electronics distribution corporations. The contract size is 26.9% of last year's sales (5,465,590,000 won). Under the deal, the company plans to supply parts for one year from the 5th to Dec. 5 next year. STS International, which receives SBB TECH's bearings, will ultimately deliver them to TSMC.
The SBB TECH bearings applied to TSMC's process minimize friction on rotating shafts or linear motion axes, enabling smooth and precise movement. They are considered essential components for semiconductor manufacturing equipment that requires nanometer (nm; 1 nm = one-billionth of a meter) level precision control. SBB TECH's products are said to excel at maintaining cleanroom (an ultra-clean space that strictly controls contaminants to prevent defects in semiconductor products) conditions by suppressing vibration and impurity generation.
A SBB TECH official said, "Following our supply contract with Keyang Electric for the Mobed Dnl module steering eccentric device, the additional contract to supply bearings for semiconductor wafer processing equipment for TSMC opens possibilities for both sales growth and revenue improvement," adding, "We will continue stable growth based on a diversified business portfolio in areas such as semiconductors and mobility."
