Kaspersky said on Dec. 8 that, to mark World Computer Literacy Day, a global trend toward self-management to strengthen digital security is expanding.
According to Kaspersky's survey, as of 2025 more than 90% of users worldwide use cybersecurity solutions. The share of people using at least one security tool was 79% in 2023, rising to 93% in 2025.
Kaspersky analyzed that its solutions blocked 389 million internet resource–based attacks worldwide over about three months from June to August 2025. The survey found that 93% of people globally use at least one security tool, and it was conducted in more than 20 countries, including the Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America, Central America and the Middle East. Eligibility required being 18 or older, using the internet at least once a week, and owning at least one personal device.
The main reasons users employ tools to protect their digital lives were blocking viruses, malware and cyberattacks, followed by protecting sensitive information and improving online safety. A range of security tools such as antivirus, call blocking and parental controls are being used, with antivirus, VPN and password managers being the most widely used solutions.
Lee Hyo-eun, head of Kaspersky's Korea office, said, "As digital transformation accelerates in Korea, threats are becoming more sophisticated," and added, "Accordingly, interest in digital security is growing." Lee continued, "It is important for users to use trusted security solutions, keep systems up to date and strengthen digital literacy to create a safer environment."
