SK hynix said on the 4th that it carried out a 2026 organizational reshuffle and executive appointments. The reorganization and appointments focused on expanding global competitiveness.
To that end, SK hynix will establish Global Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research Centers in major hubs including the United States, China, and Japan. President Ahn Hyun, head of development (CDO), will lead the organization to accelerate research on computing system architecture and strengthen cooperation with global big tech corporations.
It will also launch a Global Infrastructure organization dedicated to advancing construction of the advanced packaging fab in Indiana in the United States and strengthening global production competitiveness. Kim Chun-hwan, who has built experience at the production sites in Icheon and Cheongju, Korea, will lead the organization, aiming to strengthen consistency in the global production system and proactively respond to growing AI memory demand.
It will also set up a Macro Research Center (MRC) to conduct in-depth analysis of the global business environment and geopolitical issues and to present strategy solutions centered on AI and semiconductors. The company will recruit experts well-versed in everything from the global macroeconomy to individual industries and corporations to further strengthen future response capabilities.
SK hynix will create a dedicated HBM technical organization in the Americas to provide rapid technical support to key high bandwidth memory (HBM) customers. In addition, to respond in a timely manner to the expansion of the custom HBM market, it separately established a dedicated organization for HBM packaging Production yield and quality, completing an HBM-specialized organizational system that spans the entire process from development to mass production and quality.
On the day, SK hynix appointed 37 new executives, accelerating the cultivation of next-generation leaders. Of these, 70% were selected from key business and technology fields, and in the technology and support organizations, a female executive born in the 1980s was promoted.
It will also strengthen the leadership framework for the company's mid- to long-term growth. Lee Byung-gi, a key leader in manufacturing and technology, was promoted to head of mass production (CPO) and tasked with driving innovation in SK hynix's global production system. Kwon Jae-soon, an expert in Production yield and quality, and Kim Cheon-seong, who led eSSD product development, were also promoted to major positions as head of M&T and head of solutions development, respectively.
In addition, under the Corporate Center, which integrally coordinates companywide support functions, key executives such as Kim Dong-gyu (future strategy), Kang Yu-jong (procurement), and Jin Bo-gun (corporate culture) were appointed.
