The global semiconductor equipment market maintained its growth in the third quarter of this year.
According to the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI) on Dec. 4, third-quarter global semiconductor equipment revenue came to $33.66 billion (about 4.96182 trillion won). That was up 11% from a year earlier and 2% from the previous quarter.
Ajit Manocha, CEO of SEMI, said, "Through the third quarter, global semiconductor equipment revenue is approaching a total of $100 billion (about 14.741 trillion won), marking an all-time high," and added, "This growth shows that semiconductors are the key infrastructure opening the next-generation digital era through a 'hyperconnected, hyperintelligent' ecosystem."
The semiconductor equipment market is analyzed to have grown as investments in advanced processes such as leading-edge logic, DRAM, and packaging expanded with the spread of artificial intelligence (AI). By country, China recorded the highest semiconductor equipment revenue, followed by Taiwan, Korea, the United States, and Japan.
