OpenAI urged caution regarding suspicious emails or messages in connection with a security breach at its web analytics partner Mixpanel.
In a notice on the 3rd, OpenAI said, "Information that may have been affected by this incident could be used as part of phishing or social engineering attacks," and asked users to "handle unexpected emails and messages containing links or attachments with care."
It added that it does not ask for passwords, API keys, or authentication codes via email, text message, or chat. It also asked users to verify that any message claiming to be from OpenAI was sent from an official OpenAI domain.
OpenAI also said, "This incident is not a breach of our systems," adding, "Chats and API requests, API usage data, passwords, credentials, API keys, payment information, or IDs were not compromised or exposed." API refers to tools that allow external developers to use a company's software or services.
Previously, Business Insider reported on the 27th of last month (local time) that OpenAI had said user information on its developer platform might have been exposed due to a security breach at the web analytics platform Mixpanel.
