Naver added a Spotify music streaming pass as a Naver Plus Membership benefit.
Spotify, the global music streaming platform, said on the 26th that it signed a strategic partnership to enable organic use of Spotify's music and audio content across Naver's key services, including Naver Plus Membership, Naver Map navigation, and the Naver app. This is the first time in Korea that Spotify has signed a partnership integrating its membership and platform.
With this collaboration, "Spotify Premium Basic" has been added to the base benefits of Naver's paid subscription program, "Naver Plus Membership." Naver Plus Membership users can use "Spotify Premium Basic" for 4,900 won per month. The existing "Spotify Premium Basic," priced at 7,900 won per month, is a service that lets users stream, without ads, more than 100 million tracks on Spotify and more than 7 million podcasts in real time.
In addition, with Naver newly introducing an "add-on subscription" feature, users of other digital content within Naver Plus Membership can newly subscribe to Spotify at a special price of 5,900 won per month.
As Spotify links with the navigation in the Naver Map app, users can listen to preset playlists while on the move. Through the Spotify icon displayed on the navigation screen, users can easily switch to the Spotify app. In addition, when searching for music on Naver, Spotify's track preview feature is provided so users can quickly check the music they want.
Starting with this integration, the two companies plan to roll out features sequentially to expand the user experience across Naver's various services.
Gautam Talwar, Spotify's general manager for Asia-Pacific, said, "As the Naver app, Map, Naver Plus Membership, and Spotify—which Korean users use every day—become tightly integrated, more users will be able to access their favorite audio content more easily anytime, anywhere."
