Samsung Electro-Mechanics' Busan business site on the 27th received the Minister of the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment award in the outstanding green corporations institutional sector at the "2025 Outstanding Green Management and Green Finance Corporations Awards," hosted by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment and the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute (KEITI).
Outstanding green corporations refers to corporations and business sites that contribute to building green management systems based on cooperative partnerships between the government and corporations. Samsung Electro-Mechanics was first selected in 2011 and has now been chosen as an outstanding green corporation for the fourth time.
In this assessment, Samsung Electro-Mechanics' Busan business site was highly rated for differentiated green management performance, including resource and energy savings, waste reduction, and transparent environmental information disclosure. Samsung Electro-Mechanics significantly reduced the volume of wastewater discharged from the Busan business site by improving the water treatment process and building new treatment facilities. It is also pursuing resource-circulation activities such as installing solar power facilities, expanding water reuse, and introducing dust-proof workwear made by upcycling (reuse) PET film used in the production of multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC).
Choi Jong-min, head of safety and environment at Samsung Electro-Mechanics (executive director), said, "Samsung Electro-Mechanics practices environmental management by integrally managing not only every stage from product production to disposal, but also the distribution and logistics stages," and added, "We will continue to minimize environmental impact and promote a variety of environmental conservation activities."
