Samsung Electronics said on the 26th that cumulative sales volumes of artificial intelligence (AI) home appliances in the Latin American market grew about 40% from a year earlier for the period from January to October this year.
In particular, washing machine sales posted strong growth, rising about 80% year over year on the back of brisk sales of the Bespoke AI Combo washer-dryer, which combines a washer and dryer into one.
Samsung Electronics is expanding a locally tailored lineup of AI home appliances and building AI appliance experience engagement to target the high-potential Latin American AI home market.
This year, the penetration rate of smart home appliances in Latin America is about 11%, which is relatively low compared with Korea (63%), the United States (18%), and Europe (16%).
In response, Samsung Electronics is pushing an aggressive marketing campaign by actively highlighting refrigerators, air conditioners, and washer-dryers equipped with advanced AI features. In September this year, it opened Casa Samsung, Latin America's first experiential showroom, in Guatemala.
Also, on the 7th, it opened Latin America's first Business Experience Studio (BES) in Panama, an experiential space for corporations, public institutions, and business partners for B2B (business-to-business) transactions.
Meanwhile, according to global market research firm Statista, the Latin American smart home appliance market is expected to grow at an average annual rate of around 10%, from about $2.6 billion this year to about $3.8 billion in 2029.
