Devsisters said on the 26th that cumulative users of its flagship "Cookie Run" intellectual property (IP) have surpassed 300 million in 248 countries worldwide. Cumulative IP revenue has exceeded $1 billion (about 1.5 trillion won).
According to Devsisters, Cookie Run's customer base is notable for being evenly distributed rather than concentrated in specific regions. Over the past year, countries with high user activity were Korea, the United States, China, Thailand, and Russia, in that order. Over the same period, top countries by cumulative revenue were the United States, Korea, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
Cookie Run began in 2009 with the mobile running game "OvenBreak" and has expanded its genres to role-playing games (RPG), puzzle adventure, and co-op action. It now features more than 500 characters and a wider universe, and has expanded offline into TCG (trading card game), merchandise, publishing, and exhibitions.
Recently, the company collaborated with masters of traditional intangible culture to attempt an "art collaboration project" that sensibly blends traditional culture with a modern IP, and held a special exhibition at Deoksugung Donsudeokjeon with the Korea Heritage Service. A comprehensive exhibition where visitors can see all 10 art collaboration pieces reinterpreting traditional intangible culture such as mother-of-pearl lacquerware, lotus lanterns, and buncheong ware in one place is also planned for next year.
A Devsisters official said, "We will continue to deliver diverse experiences across online and offline, spread joy, and further cement our presence as a global IP."
