Korea ranked No. 2 in ChatGPT's share of global revenue by country.
Market research firm Sensor Tower stated accordingly in an analysis report on the ChatGPT app published on its blog on the 26th. According to Sensor Tower, in ChatGPT's revenue share by country, Korea was second at 5.4%, following the United States at 35.4%.
In particular, Korea's revenue per app install (download) was $8.7, just a $0.1 difference from the United States at $8.8.
By country share of ChatGPT app downloads, India ranked No. 1 at 15.7%, while Korea was No. 21 at 1.5%. Considering this, the market was categorized as having a high share of paying users relative to the number of downloads.
In Korea, ChatGPT downloads hit a record high in Aug., and revenue hit a record high in Oct.
This year through on the 20th, ChatGPT ranked No. 1 in downloads and No. 4 in revenue across Korea's entire app market.
Sensor Tower said, "Given that the top performers in revenue, including Nos. 1 to 3 and No. 5, are all game apps, ChatGPT's No. 4, as a non-game app, is an even more outstanding result."
In Korea's AI assistant category, ChatGPT ranked No. 1 in downloads, revenue, and daily active users (DAU). Compared with Google's Gemini, downloads were double and DAU was eight times higher.
In monthly visits on internet websites, it ranked No. 5 overall after YouTube, Naver, Google, and Daum, and the average monthly time spent per visitor was 367 minutes, 1.7 times that of Naver.
Sensor Tower said, "This shows that a variety of productivity activities—beyond simple searches or questions—such as writing, planning, and analysis are taking place for long periods," adding, "For Korean users, ChatGPT is no longer a search tool but has established itself as a workspace for everyday tasks."
