Krafton will halt operations of "Abyss of Dungeon," which had been in region-limited service (soft launch) overseas ahead of its full release.
Krafton said on the 25th via the Abyss of Dungeon website that "after carefully reviewing the game's current state and its long-term potential for a global launch, we decided to end the service." "Abyss of Dungeon" will stop in-app purchases such as game currency and items starting on the 26th. Refunds will be provided for unused paid currency and for paid items purchased since Oct. Service will be fully discontinued starting Jan. 21 next year. In effect, it means the full release has been canceled.
Earlier, Krafton signed a licensing agreement in 2023 with Ironmace, the developer of the PC game "Dark and Darker," and had been independently developing "Dark and Darker Mobile." "Dark and Darker Mobile," developed by Krafton's subsidiary Bluehole Studio, was initially slated for release in late 2024 but was delayed due to quality issues. Afterward, early this year, the company ended its licensing agreement with Ironmace after about a year and six months and rebranded the title as "Abyss of Dungeon."
"Abyss of Dungeon" entered a soft launch in the United States and Canada in Feb. this year. In Jun., the service regions expanded to Southeast Asia and Latin America, but on Aug., global pre-registration was abruptly halted.
