KT said on the 25th that it opened AI Campus, a dedicated AI training space, at the KT Pangyo building in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, and carried out training to build practical AI-based work transition (AX) capabilities.
KT said it prepared a dedicated training center and a structured AI curriculum under its AI Talent Development Initiative to strengthen Korea's AI capabilities. AI Campus is a hybrid training facility of about 400 pyeong, with six large classrooms and two non-face-to-face lecture studios. Training has focused on teachers and juniors, and recently expanded to incumbent workers through training for partner company employees.
The curriculum consists of: △ AI literacy, △ Generative (Gen) AI utilization course, △ Generative (Gen) AI workshop course.
The AI literacy course is designed to teach essential introductory AI skills, including a basic understanding of Generative AI, the concept of prompt engineering, hands-on content creation, and ethical AI use. Even participants unfamiliar with AI can naturally understand from basic concepts to real-world application.
The Generative AI utilization course is a hands-on program based on real work scenarios, covering prompt engineering, information search and collection, data analysis, document and content productivity improvement, and workflow automation, enabling trainees to learn concrete ways to apply AI to their jobs.
Lastly, the Generative AI workshop course enables advanced learning such as understanding areas where AI-based work automation is possible through AI agents and vibe coding (Vibe coding: an AI collaborative development method in which a developer inputs natural-language prompts into an LLM to generate code and then improves it through testing and feedback without writing code directly) and trying to implement a personal web service.
Going forward, KT plans to expand online training to improve access so anyone nationwide can receive AI education. The cumulative number of trainees who have gone through AI Campus this year alone reaches about 700, including training for partner company employees as well as elementary, middle, and high school teachers and juniors.
Recently, the company selected 60 partner company employees and conducted intensive AI training to help them acquire AI practical skills that can be applied immediately on the job.
A KT official said, "KT is strengthening training focused on 'AI capabilities that can actually be used' on the ground," adding, "We will continue to promote the spread of AX capabilities across industry and help enhance Korea's AI competitiveness through the AI Talent Development Initiative."
Meanwhile, in Dec., the company will run the Gen AI utilization course (Dec. 10-11) and the AI literacy course (Dec. 12) for employees currently working at the company, and applications can be made on the KT WORK.AI website (WORK.AI-KT). KT is a leading corporation in worker-led training for small and medium-sized businesses under the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL), and employees of priority support corporations who take this course can receive up to a 90% refund of tuition. The company plans to continue year-round operation through 2026 to contribute to cultivating practical AI talent in the field.
