Samsung Electronics is expected to carry out follow-up appointments next week, including executive reshuffles and an organizational revamp. LG Group also appears set to conduct appointments for its presidents.
According to the industry on the 23rd, Samsung Electronics will conduct its regular executive appointments for 2026 as early as the 24th and wrap up its organizational reshuffle within this month.
Earlier, on the 21st, Samsung Electronics announced appointments for a total of four presidents. The scale was reduced to about half from nine last year, smaller than initially expected, leading to assessments that the company chose organizational stabilization. However, two of the four are "technology-oriented" professional managers, prompting analysis that the company is actively investing in future technologies.
The industry expects that, in the regular executive appointments, Samsung Electronics will also actively bring in talent with outstanding capabilities in discovering new technologies and future growth engines such as artificial intelligence (AI), 6G, next-generation semiconductors, and quantum computers.
LG Group is also expected to announce its regular appointments for presidents around the 27th. The company recently wrapped up affiliate-by-affiliate business review meetings that began at the end of last month.
LG Group, amid growing internal and external uncertainty, is also expected to focus on organizational stabilization and investment in future innovation, in line with other groups.
The heads of key affiliates such as LG Electronics and LG Display are widely expected to remain in their posts. There is also talk that Executive Vice President Moon Hyuk-soo, who serves as chief executive officer (CEO) of LG Innotek, could be promoted to president.
Attention is also on whether there will be changes to the "two-vice-chairman" system, including Kwon Bong-seok, chief operating officer (COO) of LG Corp., and Shin Hak-Cheol, CEO of LG CHEM.
