Naver Cloud said on the 20th that it successfully completed the "AI Semiconductor Farm construction and validation" project led by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA).
The project is a national strategic initiative that ran from May 2023 to Nov. 2025 with the goal of building and validating a high-performance cloud infrastructure based on domestic AI semiconductors (NPUs). Naver Cloud formed a consortium with KT Cloud and HN Cloud and worked with FuriosaAI and Rebellions to carry out the project. Key outcomes included building an AI semiconductor Farm based on domestic NPUs with a capacity of 19.95 PF, operating the cloud platform, and validating four AI application services.
In particular, in the third year, the project achieved results that increased the commercial viability of domestic NPUs. Various AI services were implemented during validation, and Naver Cloud, together with FuriosaAI, validated translation and chatbot services for foreign workers. KT Cloud and HN Cloud focused on the medical sector with Rebellions and applied a brain disease diagnosis AI platform. In addition, the performance of domestic NPUs was verified by AI Works, a third-party testing and inspection agency, and some models demonstrated better performance than foreign GPUs, proving competitiveness.
A Naver Cloud official said, "This project is an important turning point in applying domestic NPUs to industrial sites, and the AI ecosystem centered on domestic NPUs will expand in the future."
