Google Play said on the 19th that it announced the 2025 Best of awards.
Naver Plus Store was chosen as the best app of the year, and Seven Knights Rebirth was selected as the best game. The winners were chosen based on a combination of downloads, user ratings, and other factors, reflecting app and game usage trends.
In the app institutional sector, agent artificial intelligence (AI)-based apps and productivity-focused services drew attention. The "everyday life app of the year" was Kanana, an on-device AI mate app, and the "self-improvement app of the year" was Dlog, which summarizes and provides news of interest. Goodnotes and Luminar were selected as the "large-screen app of the year" and the "multi-device app of the year," respectively. In content consumption, Naver Webtoon, which introduced the short-form animation-based platform "Cuts," was named the "entertainment app of the year," and Shotcha was selected as the "hidden gem app of the year." In addition, Quatr was named the "watch app of the year," and Chzzik XR was named the "XR app of the year."
In the game institutional sector, new titles based on IP and multiplatform games were strong. Seven Knights Rebirth was recognized for introducing a turn-based structure while maintaining the series' unique elements. Journey of Monarch, Delta Force, and Odin: Valhalla Rising won in the multi-device, competitive, and PC institutional sectors, respectively. King Shot was selected as the "casual game of the year," and Ddakkkak Three Kingdoms was chosen as the "indie game of the year." Overseas achievements by Korean developers continued. Gravity's Ragnarok Crush was selected as the "casual game of the year" in five Southeast Asian countries, and KRAFTON's Cookie Run India: Running Game won both "best game of the year" and "casual game of the year" in India. Odin: Valhalla Rising was selected as the "PC game of the year" in the United States, and Journey of Monarch was selected as the "PC game of the year" in Taiwan. In the app institutional sector, SleepisolBio: sleep, alarm was named the "watch app of the year" in the United States, Indonesia, and India.
Shin Gyeong-jun, head of partnerships for Google Play Korea, said, "In 2025, AI proactively supported daily life and the multiplatform environment spread," and noted, "It is important that Korean developers achieved meaningful results overseas."
