Amkor Technology (Amkor), the world's No. 2 in semiconductor packaging, will expand the test facilities at its plant in Songdo International City, Incheon.
On the 19th, the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority said Amkor Korea began expansion work that day on semiconductor test facilities (test wing) at its Songdo plant within the Songdo Advanced Industry Cluster.
Attending the groundbreaking were Kang Gam-chan, director general for trade and investment at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Yun Won-seok, head of the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, and Kevin Engel, Amkor Global chief operating officer (COO).
Amkor will invest 266.1 billion won in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Songdo plant to build a four-story, 46,148-square-meter test facility, with operations targeted for 2027.
