Samsung Electronics said it signed a business partnership agreement for Samsung Wallet service with Hana Card on the 18th at Hana Financial Group's Myeong-dong headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, for continued mutual growth, including strengthening mobile payment competitiveness. The signing ceremony was attended by Vice President Chae Won-chul, head of the Digital Wallet Team at Samsung Electronics, and CEO Seong Yeong-su of Hana Card.
Samsung Electronics and Hana Card plan to launch a Samsung Wallet Travel affiliate card and offer benefits such as Samsung Wallet point accrual when paying with the card.
In addition, Samsung Electronics and Hana Card plan to build a service that allows university student IDs from universities partnered with Hana Card to be registered in the Samsung Wallet mobile ID service. When a university student ID is registered in Samsung Wallet, students can use the same functions as a physical student ID, including ▲ access to on-campus doors ▲ use of libraries and reading rooms ▲ debit card functions. The company said that using a mobile student ID eliminates the need to carry a physical card and greatly reduces the risk of loss.
Vice President Chae Won-chul, head of the Digital Wallet Team at Samsung Electronics, said, "Through this agreement with Hana Card, we will not only provide a convenient payment experience overseas and further enhance convenience in campus life, but also deliver tangible benefits to customers through Samsung Wallet points."
Hana Card CEO Seong Yeong-su said, "Through this collaboration, mobile devices and traditional finance will meet to create new synergies, and we will deliver the best value and the best customer experience across a wide range of areas, from overseas payments to domestic payment businesses."
