Google Cloud said on the 17th that it has appointed Ruth Sun as the new head of Google Cloud Korea.
New head Sun is an industry expert with more than 30 years in large-scale enterprise innovation. Before joining Google Cloud, she served as global managing director of strategic partnerships at IBM and worked in IBM's data analytics and software solutions group. Earlier at IBM Watson Health, she was responsible for global business operations and performance management for the company's first oncology software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution. She also served as chief executive officer (CEO) and board director of Tempest, and chief operating officer (COO) of Fores Therapeutics.
Sun said, "I am delighted to join Google Cloud at a time when the industry is at a critical inflection point," adding, "Korea is a global hub for technological innovation and early adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), and based on my global experience to date, I will help Korean customers achieve innovative growth by leveraging Google Cloud's differentiated AI, data, and infrastructure capabilities."
Karan Bajwa, head of Google Cloud Asia-Pacific, said, "Sun has a proven track record of successfully leading innovation at corporations and possesses know-how from pioneering business at the forefront of AI and data analytics."
Former Google Cloud Korea head Ji Ki-seong will serve in the role through the 30th. Ji said, "It has been an honor to be part of Google Cloud's journey over the past four years," and added, "I wish Ruth Sun and Google Cloud Korea success, and I will continue to cheer for Google Cloud's future in the new environment."
