LG Uplus said on the 16th it will hold an exhibition to view contemporary art at its complex cultural space "ilssangbiilssang-ui teum by U+" (hereafter Teum).
The company organized this contemporary art exhibition in collaboration with Gallery Houghton. Running from on the 14th to Dec. 31, the exhibition's theme is "The economy of creation: AI and humans, and art." Works by nine artists are on display, including artist Lee Ufan, known for his dot-line-plane series, and artist Lee Se-hyun, who became known for "Red Landscape."
Teum on Gangnam-daero in Seoul is a complex cultural space that LG Uplus opened in Sept. 2020. Pop-up exhibitions are held on a regular cycle with new themes. Previously, pop-ups in collaboration with LG Twins and Lego Korea were held at Teum and gained popularity.
An LG Uplus official said, "We planned this exhibition with the idea that interest in cultural activities such as appreciating artworks has been rising, especially among Millennials and Gen Z," adding, "We collaborated with 'Gallery Houghton,' which has carried out many programs with young-spirited artists, from selecting works for this exhibition to placement and overall planning, so that any customer visiting Teum can focus on the works in a comfortable atmosphere and environment."
LG Uplus exhibited works on different themes by floor. On the first floor, it displayed works that give an Oriental feel, and on the second floor and first basement level, it showcased works that incorporate artificial intelligence (AI).
Curator Choi Yoon-jung, who prepared the exhibition, said, "This project is not a simple exhibition plan but an expansion of artistic thinking," adding, "Through an exhibition that interprets the entire space as a single canvas beyond the works themselves, humans, technology, and art will cross each other's boundaries to show new possibilities of creation."
Jung Hye-yoon, head of marketing at LG Uplus (executive director), said, "Through collaboration with contemporary artists, we prepared an exhibition at Teum that combines art and technology," adding, "We will continue to expand collaborations between Teum and the arts so customers can encounter LG Uplus more easily in their daily lives."
