Alphabet (Google's parent company) has rejoined the major sales destinations for Samsung Electronics.
According to the third-quarter business report released on the 14th, Alphabet was listed among the "top five sales destinations" for Samsung Electronics. With increased semiconductor sales to Alphabet, it reentered after two quarters. Compared with the previous quarter, Verizon Communications Inc. and Alphabet switched places. As of the third quarter, Samsung Electronics' top five sales destinations are Alphabet, Apple, Deutsche Telekom, Hong Kong Techtronic, and Supreme Electronics. These corporations account for about 14% of total sales.
Samsung Electronics also officially recorded the details of its artificial intelligence (AI) chip supply contract as "Tesla" in this business report, after initially listing it only as "North American big tech." Samsung Electronics produces Tesla AI chips AI5 and AI6. The contract is worth $16.5 billion (about 22 trillion won), equivalent to 8% of last year's sales. The contract period runs from July 2025 to December 2033.
On a consolidation basis, third-quarter net sales by region were highest in the Americas at 33.0958 trillion won. Asia and Africa (13.888 trillion won), Europe (12.9708 trillion won), and China (12.5956 trillion won) followed. Samsung Electronics said it registered 7,766 domestic patents and 7,475 U.S. patents through a total of 27 trillion won in research and development (R&D) investment in the third quarter.
