Nexus CEO Jang Hyeon-guk said on the 13th that he plans to launch more than five Blockchain massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) after next year. He also cited advancing the Blockchain platform and expanding the Web3 ecosystem as key goals for next year.
On this day, Nexus CEO Jang held a media briefing at the Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO) in Haeundae-gu, Busan, where "G-Star 2025," the country's largest game show, opened, and said, "For the next 50 years, I will live a life proving for myself how games evolve when they meet Blockchain." He added, "From now on, we will focus on advancing the platform and securing games that will achieve better results than 'Rohan 2.'"
Sharing next year's business plan, Jang said, "We have signed contracts for more than five MMORPGs or are approaching the final stage," and added, "Next year, we will add Blockchain content and advance the platform around artificial intelligence (AI), preparing functions needed to build a Blockchain ecosystem."
The company also plans to expand into Web3 browsers and Web3 messengers. He explained, "This is a measure to improve the Blockchain user experience, such as installing virtual asset wallets and making remittance payments, which have been the biggest obstacles to Web3," and added, "Just as KakaoTalk broke down the wall for internet banking, the way to improve the Web3 user experience is also the messenger."
Jang also revealed when he will become the largest shareholder of Nexus. He said, "The period to exercise the call option is approaching, from Jan. 8 next year to July 8 for six months, so I will buy equity from LINKED and become the largest shareholder." Currently, the No. 1 shareholder of Nexus is LINKED (22.91%), and CEO Jang Hyeon-guk is the No. 2 shareholder with 9.83%.
Meanwhile, Jang moved from Wemade to Action Square early this year. In February, Action Square changed its name to Nexus, added a Blockchain business to its existing game business, and launched the Blockchain platform "CROSS." In September, it unveiled "Rohan 2," which integrates Blockchain into the "Rohan" intellectual property (IP). Since its launch, Rohan 2 has posted results such as surpassing 55,000 peak concurrent users.
Yano Keiichi, head of the Japanese rhythm game studio ENTIENT, also attended the press briefing that day. Nexus said the previous day that it had onboarded (a partnership to mount a game on the platform) ENTIENT's new title "SHOUT!" Upon onboarding, the SHOUT token ($SHOUT) will be supported for transaction via CROSS. Earlier, as part of expanding the Blockchain game ecosystem, Nexus made a strategic investment in ENTIENT.
Yano Keiichi said, "CEO Jang has extensive experience in the game industry, but the Blockchain industry lacks people with game experience, so I chose (to collaborate with Nexus)."
