Artificial intelligence (AI) service corporations ESTsoft said on the 11th that on a consolidation basis for the third quarter of this year, it posted revenue of about 25 billion won and an operating loss of about 4.5 billion won.
Revenue stayed at a level similar to a year earlier, but the deficit widened by about 1.2 billion won.
ESTsoft assessed that it laid the groundwork for additional growth in the AI software business in the third quarter. It said the AI software business was driven by ▲ global AI software-as-a-service (SaaS) Perso AI ▲ AI talent training and education business ▲ the utility program "ALTools."
In addition, the "Perso AI human kiosk" business expanded, and the "ALTools AI subscription service" was launched to monetize AI service revenue. Portal and commerce businesses also maintained year-earlier levels.
In particular, Perso AI took part in MIPCOM, the world's largest broadcast and video content market held in Cannes, France, and began discussions with some companies—such as content producers, OTT (over-the-top) and FAST (free ad-supported streaming TV) operators—on adopting AI dubbing. Among these, strong demand was reportedly seen in Turkey, Spain, Italy and the Middle East.
However, the company said the operating loss widened due to increased global advertising and promotion expenses and higher materials and supplies costs to grow the AI software business. It said investments such as strengthening Perso AI's aggressive global marketing base and pre-purchases to expand the Perso AI human kiosk business are continuing.
ESTsoft said, "We will continue to keep our existing businesses solid while continuing to invest in new AI businesses."
