KT said on the 9th that, together with the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, it held traveling artificial intelligence (AI) hands-on classes through the "KT AI Station" at six middle schools in Yeoncheon, Yeoju, and Anseong from the 27th of last month to the 7th of this month.
The "KT AI Station" is a mobile AI learning space made up of the K-Intelligence and an ESG (environmental, social and governance) experience center. A total of 450 students and faculty members took part in the program, directly trying out AI voice recognition, video synthesis, and Generative AI technologies, and also receiving instruction on digital ethics and information verification, including deepfakes and fake news.
KT and the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education shared the outcomes of the program at Yangseong Middle School in Anseong and discussed ways to cooperate to bridge regional gaps in AI education.
Lee Jeong-hyeon, head of digital education policy at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, said, "Students were able to develop interest by experiencing AI firsthand through the KT AI Station and build the ability to think for themselves," adding, "We will continue to expand AI education opportunities in schools."
Oh Tae-seong, senior vice president of KT's ESG Management Promotion Office, said, "KT, based on the value of 'for everyone's AI,' is working to ensure that anyone can learn and experience AI without constraints of region or environment," and added, "By cooperating with the office of education, we will continue to expand diverse AI education programs and take the lead in building a digitally inclusive society."
